Inverter-Duty Motors - Description (MicroMAX® and Blue Chip XRI® Series)

Inverter-Duty describes a class of motors that are capable of operation from a variable frequency drive.

These motors do not have provisions for mounting encoders, but are suitable for use with volts/hertz or open loop vector controls. MicroMAX motors have a general purpose, NEMA Design B motor casing and are suitable for most variable torque and some limited speed range constant torque applications. Consult the product technical specifications to determine the maximum continuous duty constant torque speed range. As required under Federal law, MicroMAX motors may be required to comply with EPAct efficiencies when operating from utility power.

Blue Chip XRI motors meet NEMA Premium™ efficiencies.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Vector-Duty Motors - Description (Black Max® and Blue Max® Series)

Vector-Duty describes a class of motors that are specifically designed for operation from a variable frequency drive. Marathon Electric's Vector-Duty motors are suitable for use with either volts/hertz or vector controls, with or without feedback devices. These motors feature a wide constant torque and/or constant horsepower speed range and are performance-matched to all current technology IGBT drives.

The Black Max series is available with a Dynapar model HS35 shaft-mounted encoder (Yxxx-A772 part numbers).

The patented MAX GUARD® insulation system is an integral part of every Marathon Electric vector-duty motor, and permits operation at any cable length and any carrier frequency. All comply with NEMA MG1-1998, specifically Part 31. As these motors are specifically designed for operation through an inverter, they are exempt from EPAct legislation.
